CAVERSHAM RATEPAYERS
The monthly meeting of the executive of the Caversham Ratepayers and Householders’ Association was held in the Caversham School buildings.; The PT®® l " dent (Mr Q. J. Thorn) occupied the Correspondence was received, from the town clerk regarding the provision of a convenience in the vicinity of the Lavei ‘ sham tramway terminus, asking if the association had any suggestion to make respecting a suitable site. —It .was decided that the matter of a suitable site be left in the hands of the president and the secretary. , . „ . „ The matter of storm water in Goodall street was brought forward by the president, and it was decided that the attention of the city authorities should be brought to it. . . , ... It was decided that a deputation, consisting of the president and Mr bounces, wait on the Tramway Committee respecting various matters for the benefit of the district. . . , The untidy state of Asquith street was discussed, and this matter was left m tbe bands of the president to attend to. It was agreed that the attention of the Reserves Committee be drawn to the state of the children’s playground. It was decided to write to the Returned Soldiers’ Association asking that a donation from the Poppy Day Fund be allocated to Caversham. . ' The secretary was instructed to write to tbe Works Committee requesting that screenings be placed on the footpaths in Milburn street and the lower part of Corstorphine road. . It was considered that the matter ,of the dangerous practice of children going to the railway reserve by the Valley road bridge and leaning over the embankment while trains were passing should be broughtunder the notice of the Railways Department. It was decided that the paling fence be extended the full length of the reserve in order to avert any serious accident. Mr Milne brought up the question of the new domestic charges for electric power, and a lengthy discussion ensued thereon.
