Bad luck continues for Captain Chichester. While assisting to place his plane on board the Albatross for repairs he had his hand caught between the machine and the ship. The top of one finger was taken off and his hand was crushed and lacerated rather badly. He is now in hospital aboard the Albatross. In all probability the plane will now be brought to Sydney by the seaplane carrier. Jervis Bay is 85 miles S.S.W. from Sydney. Captain Chichester left the Hobsonville (Auckland) air base on the morning of March 28, and reach Norfolk Island 11 hours later. The floats of his machine were damaged as he descended, and he did not take off for Lord Howe Island till April 1. He arrived safely, but a squall struck the seaplane at the anchorage, and it was overturned and put out of action.
