TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — As one who has some interest in Brighton and is a keen admirer of its many beauty points, I would like to state, in all fairness, that a great deal has been done by the members of the Domain Board in the effort to make the domain a popular place for picnickers and pleasure seekers, and no right thinking persona should object to pay a paltry shilling for parking their car and using the domain where all conveniences have been provided for them. Unfortunately there is a class of visitor that would like to come to Brighton and every other seaside place and pay for nothing but break up and destroy everything moveable, and run round naked, if they were permitted. Hence the laws and regulations for this class. We are pleased if they move on; their room is preferable to their company. To say that Brighton is stagnant is untrue. At least half a, dozen new houses have been erected within the past few years. Brighton, to my mind, will ever be popular to all lovers of the beautiful, and the best class of our people will come to it in increasing numbers.—l am, etc.. One Who Watches.

TO THE EDITOR. Sib, — In to-day’s issue “Forty Years’ Visitor” gives a sort of personal history of his acquaintance with Brighton. First, he walked to Brighton, then he drove, and now he comes in a motor car. ' From the references in his letter he appears to have an acquaintance with ironware. Generally speaking, like the rich man in the parable, he appears to fare sumptuously, for he mentions a swim, an ice cream, and tea. But if “Forty Years’ Visitor ” cares to review the reverse side of the parable all he has to do is to view the empty tea and ice cream building at one of the corners. The serious point about it is that a lot of money has been invested in the property with the object of making a living business, but, thanks to the power of the “iron hand,” in the move forward stunt, vacancy here reigns supreme.—l am, etc..
