RAVENSBOURNE REGATTA.

A COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAMME. EVENTS WELL CONTESTED. In spite of the counter-attractions there was a good attendance at the Ravensbourne annual regatta on Saturday afternoon, and some attractive events were witnessed. Sailing, rowing, motor boating and swimming competitions constituted the programme, which was despatched promptly and with little waste of time. During the afternoon a sudden squall made conditions difficult for one or two events, the oarsmen especially being put to a severe test, but the weather soon cleared again. In the C. C. Wakefield Cup heats for speed boats. Miss Bruce was the only boat to face the starter, completing the course in the exact time, thus gaining her points for the cup. Tui II beat Miss Bruce in the Speedboat Race (open), but was disqualified by declaring the wrong speed limit, and the result was therefore no race. The following are the results: — YOUTHS’ FOURS.

Near the winning post the boats were bunched together, and a good finish resulted, Otago winning by half a length, with Macandrey Bay three-quarters of a length behind Port.
