GLEN AFTON COLLIERIES.
NO SETTLEMENT OF DISPUTE. (Pee United Press Association.) HAMILTON. February 22. Preferential employment to several nop unionists in the Glen Afton collieries has led to the cessation of work in that mine and the adjoining MacDonald mines. The trouble started several days ago, and a conference, which was held on Friday, between the coalminers’ representatives and the directorate of the Glen Afton and MacDonald collieries, proved abortive. At a mass meeting of the Glen Afton Miners’ Union to-day it was decided not to resume work. It is feared that the trouble may spread to other coal mines.
