OBITUARY
MR JOSIAH VILES. (Peg United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, February 21. Mr Josiah Viles (aged 91) died at Fcatherston. He was born in Somersetshire, England, and came to New Zealand with his parents in 1841. The family settled on the Kaiwarra Flats, and experienced the big ctharquakes of 1848 and 1855. Mr Viles served in the Maori War. took part in the Gabriel's Gully gold rush, and subsequently engaged in farming in the Wairarapa. BRIGADIER-GENERAL BA 11!D. KILLED IN MOTOR COLLISION. LONDON, February 21. (Received Feb. 23, at 0.5 a.m.) BrigadieF-general Alexander Baird, a brother of Lord Stonehaven, was killed in a. motor collision on the LondonSouthampton road.
