SWIFT RETRIBUTION
YOUNG INDIAN HANGED. ATTEMPTED MURDER. (Unites Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) DELHI, February 20. (Received Feb. 21, at 11 p.m.) A young Molmiand fanatic who attempted to murder Captain Barnes, assistant commissioner of Charsadda, was arrested and tried on the same day and hanged the next day in Peshawar gaol. The man took a letter, which was ostensibly an application of some sort, to Captain Barnes at his bungalow and tried to shoot him while he was reading it. Accused admitted that the offence was an act of revenge for the death of his uncle and his grandfather, who were killed during operations against Millah Adda by British troops 50 years ago.
