A KNIGHTHOOD CONFERRED.

The King has conferred a knighthood upon Captain Malcolm Campbell, who reached Plymouth this morning on the Mauretania, He will continue his journey by the liner to Southampton, where ’ a civic reception and a banquet await him.

The news of his honour was conveyed to Captain Campbell in a note from the Prime Minister, and was handed to him immediately the Mauretania reached Southampton. The note said: “ I am glad to inform you that his Majesty has been pleased to approve that the honour of a knighthood be conferred upon you.” The* Prime Minister’s message expressed his personal congratulations. In an interview. Captain Campbell said, he wished the United States’ .• aspirant for the record the best of luck.
