The fortnightly meeting of the Triumph Lodge No. 9 was held on Thursday last in the Lodge Hall, Kensington. The lodge was opened by the W.M., Bro. W. O’Neill, assisted by the acting-chaplain Bro. Burr, P.M., and the 1.P.M., Bro. George Hellyer, and a full roll of officers. The initiation of a. new member was conducted by the W.M., who was ably assisted by the D.M. and the I.P.M.' Correspond-

ence was read and dealt with. Remits for the Grand Council were forwarded by the grand secretary for consideration by the lodge. After discussing these for some considerable time it was . decided to continue next night. The Social Committee reported that it had held a meeting during the recess, and had drawn up a programme of social_ evenings for the year. The Sick Committee reported on the sick visited, and claims were passed for payment. The euchre team was chosen to play the Valley True Blue Lodge for the shield. The fortnightly meeting of the Valley True Blue Lodge No. 11 was held on Tuesday evening in the Orange Hall, Leith street. The lodge was opened by the W.M,, Bro. George T. Austin, assisted by the I.P.M. and chaplain, all the junior officers being present. There was a very large attendance of members and visitors. Before proceeding with the business the W.M., Bro. Austin, referred to the loss the society had suffered in the death of the grand master (Bro. Charles A. Arnold),,who had taken a keen interestin the affairs of the society. The W.M., Bro. W.‘ O’Neill, and his officers (of No. 9 Triumph Lodge) haying accepted an invitation to work an initiation ceremony, the W.M. requested the officers to vacate their chairs in favour of the officers of No. 9 Lodge. Correspondence was then dealt with and the Sick _ Committee’s reports on the sick were received. Claims on the sick funds were passed for payment. P.M. Bro. Wagstaff. of John Knox Lodge. Wellington, thanked the W.M. for the very kindly welcome extended to him. Speaking at some length on the general work carried on by tlffi society in other parts of the Dominion, he congratulated the lodge on. the way it conducted its business and the large attendance of members. He conveyed the greetings of the northern lodges. General business was transacted and the lodge was adjourned.. .The regular fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Excelsior Lodge No. 41 was held on Wednesday in the Lodge Hall, Green Island. The lodge was presided over by W.M. Bro. A. D. Lindsay, fssisted by his officers. There was a moderate attendance of members. Before commencing the business of the evening the W.M. referred to the loss suffered by the Order in the death of W.G.M. Bro. Charles A. Arnold, and he requested the lodge to stand' in silence for a .few moments in token of sympathy with the relatives. Correspondence was read and dealt with. The Sick Committee reported on the sick, and the report was deemed satisfactory. Sick claims were passed for payment. One new member was The Social Committee reported that it had decided to challenge the Valley- True Blue Lodge for the euchre shield at an early date. .
