WRECKED SEAMEN’S WAGES.
A decision of importance to wrecked seamen was given in the House of Lords lately. Judgment of the Court of Appeal and Lord Meridvale were affirmed in the cases of John Murray, of Birkenhead, an able-bodied seaman on the Croxteth, wrecked off the coast of Holland in February, 1929, and Joseph Comerford, of Liverpool, a greaser on the Celtic, when wrecked in December, 1928, off Queenstown. The finding was that the men were entitled to two months’ wages from the date of the wrecks. Owners of the ships contended that they were not liable to pay the two months’ wages.
