DUNEDIN HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. Mr John Black presided at the meeting of the committee of the Dunedin Horticultural Society, held on Tuesday evening. The secretai'y of the North Otago Horticultural Society wrote stating that it was the intention of his society to make a comprehensive display at the show of the Dunedin Society to be held next week. Several applications for schedules were received from growers in country districts. Sir Thomas Sidey wrote stating that he would be pleased to open the jubilee show officially, Mr James Fletcher intimated that he was prepared to present a trophy, and it was decided to allocate it to the amateur championship in gladioli. Messrs Hogg and Co. forwarded an oak tray as a prize in the ladies’ decorative work section. Miss M. Martin attended the meeting, and, on behalf of the Gardening Circle of the Otago Women’s Club, offered to run the afterpoon tea and supper room on the first day of the show, and also to supply morning tea to the exhibitors. She also stated that the ladies of the circle would stage an exhibition of flowers, etc. The president requested Miss Martin to convey to the ladies of the circle the committee’s sincere thanks for their kind offer. The director of the horticultural division wrote stating that he was forwarding the Loder Cup. The cup had come to hand and was exhibited at the meeting. Miss M’lntyre offered to bake a birthday cake for the jubilee of the society, and the offer was accepted with thanks.
