DIVORCE PETITIONS
BIG INCREASE IN BRITAIN. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, February 5. The amazing growth of divorce in Britain is shown in the latest figures. Lust year’s decrees were over 5000, compared with 577 in 1913. Divorce is far more frequent in the country, and in every class there are more petitions undefended. The biggest increase has occurred since 192 C, when matrimonial cases were first heard before the Assizes Court, avoiding the former delay and expense of having to go to the Divorce Court in London. Since the Act forbidding full press reports of divorce eases came into operation the annual average has been 3545, compared with 2773 just before the Act.
