SCHNEIDER CUP RACE

BRITAIN'S DEFECTION. BLOW TO AIRCRAFT INDUSTRY. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, January 25. The Society of British Aircraft Instructors has sent letters to all the members of the House of Lords urging reconsideration of the House of Commons’ Schneider Cup decisions. The society points out that the loss of the trophy by default would strike a serious blow at the export trade of the industry. THE DECISION REGRETTED. RE-EXAMINATION REQUESTED. LONDON, January 24. Mr Harold Balfour (Con.) tabled a motion in the House of Commons, supported by 40 members, mostly Conservatives, that the House regrets that the Government has expressed its inability to help in defending the Schneider Cup, and expresses the opinion that the decision should be re-examined. ENTRY POSSIBLE YET. LONDON, January 25. (Received Jan. 26, at 9 p.m.) There is a possibility that pilots and machines may yet be loaned for the purposes of the Schneider Cup Race. This was suggested by Commander Kenworthy, who said he was personally trying to arrange a contest in the north of England. In the event of arrangements being made the Government might reconsider the matter.
