THE BUILDING REGULATIONS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sut, —I would like to draw the attention of the authorities to a couple of shops that are being erected on the Musselburgh Rise, Main road. If these buildings comply with the regulations, then the regulations need amendment. This class of structure, as well as being unsightly, is not a fair thing to the surrounding owners, whose properties are thereby depreciated. If, as is stated, a noisy business is to be carried on in them, there will be a further nuisance created day and night. I trust that the authorities will see that, at least, the two sides of the building are built of brick.-—I am, etc., Carpenter. [We are informed, on making inquiries, that the building, which will comprise a shop and a plumber’s workshop, complies with the regulations. The premises are officially described as two brick shops.— Ed. O.D.TJ
