NEW BRIGHTON TROTS.

CHIEF EVENT TO REGAL VOYAGE. (Special to Daily Times.) CHRISTCHURCH, January 24. The January meeting of the New Brighton Trotting Club was held to-day in bright sunshine, with an easterly breeze to temper the heat. There was an average attendance, and some excellent sport was provided by large fields, though one or two of the events were disappointing. A feature of the proceedings was that the last five races were won by horses from New Brighton stables. The totalisator investments were £17,106 10s, compared with £23,791 at the March meeting last year. The following are the results: — INNOVATION HANDICAP. (In harness). Of 150sovs. Uuhoppled trotters. Tom Wilkes led Out, hut broke after going a furlong. Last Child and Reverie then took charge, but Duco was in front at the stand, with Kilbirnie Dan next. Kilbirnie Dan drew dear leaving the straight, and half a mile from home he was followed by Duco and Fair Exchange, with Great Burton fourth. Fair Exchange then broke, and there was no further change, Kilbirnie Dan beating Duco by three lengths, with Great Burton six lengths further away, followed by Esbine. Times: 3min 42 4-ssec, 3m in 43 4-ssec, 3min 43sec.

Half a mile from home Dillon Logan joined Silver Sea and Le Fashion in the lead, witli Lydia Pointer next, and Holly Bank closing up. Dillon Logan took charge at the entrance to the straight, and won by three lengths from Lydia Pointer, who beat Location by a neck, with Holly Bank a length further back. With a mile gone, Author Franz had Fair Wave in close attendance, with Milo Minto, Colonial Boy, and Great Author at the head of the others. Half a mile from home Author Franz and Fair Wave were showing the way to Milo Minto and Colonial Boy with Regal Voyage closing up. Milo Minto was in front when the straight was reached, but Regal Voyage wore him down, and won by a head. Author Franz was three lengths away, with Fair Wave two lengths further back. Arklow then went on from Radley, who had Some Guy, Lydia Pointer and Achray as his nearest attendants at the half-mile post. Radley led to the straight, but tired, and in a good finish Some Guy beat Lydia Pointer by a neck. Achray was a length away, followed by Stowaway, who finished very fast. Kate Lo"an held her place and won easily by three lengths from Denver Hinds, who passed Banffshire Lad in the straight and beat him bv five lengths. Denver City was fourth. Repute was 40 yards in front, of Eileen Wood at the end of half a mile, with Fifa and Nelson Boy next, Repute held her place, and won easily by 10 lengths from Eileen Wood, while Kyra, 10 lengths away, beat Fifa by two lengths for third place. Racing for the straight, Tenedos had Our Bird, Baynut. and Hostess in close attendance, with Tactless and Fair Wave heading the others. Tenedos held his place, and beat Baynut by over a length. Kautoma led out of the straight, where Cranloigh took second place with Sonoma, Great Triumph and Howdah next. Cranloigh took charge after going three furlongs, and at the half-mile post was followed closely by Kautoma and Great Triumph, while five lengths away Howdah and Kreisler were next. Cranleigh led Great Triumph to the straight, and won easily by two lengths, with Kreisler three lengths away, and Howdah fourth. Times: 2min 14 2- 2m in 14 l-seec; 2min ICsec.
