UNEMPLOYMENT.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. SUBSIDISED WAGES FOR WORKERS. At a meeting of the Unemployment Committee on Saturday morning the matter of bringing the provisions of the No. 2 private work subsidy scheme more prominently to the notice of citizens was discussed. As a means to that end it was decided that applicants for work at the Government Labour Bureau bo supplied, if desired, with a copy of the form of application ready for filling in by any prospective employer. * The arrangement will enable the work Seeker to look for work with greater confidence, as he can explain the advantages of the subsidy and at the same time supply the employer with the form and deliver it after signature at the Town Hall. The employer's time Is saved and ho has also had the advantage of a personal interview with the applicant. Money is available for citizens to take advantage of, and the committee earnestly hopes that It will be quickly taken, up, and that applicants for work will be sympathetically received. The classes, of work, approved under the No. 2 scheme for subsidy of £ for £ oh wages up to 14s per day are as undet;(labour only) i—Gardening, wood chopping, section clearing, - subsoil drainage and trenching, clerical work.
