SCHOOL CHILDREN IN LONDON.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—Mr Gilchrist asserts that twofifths of London school children go breakfastless to school. As nnemplopment insurance is universaj throughout England; perhaps he can enlighten us as to where the child’s allowance goes. I understand from visitors to the Old Country that a great change for good is to be observed all over the land, and that the former destitution is unknown. The dole, or insurance, is real money paid—not a rabbit hat trick. I shall expect Mr Gilchrist to furnish some reason for its disappearance.—l am, etc., January 21. PROGRESS.
