CANBERRA DOOMED
DRAIN ON THE COMMONWEALTH. PROMINENT CITIZENS’ VIEWS. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) SYDNEY, January 23. (Received Jan. 23, at 11 p.m.) The Sun newspaper is publishing the views of prominent citizens in all parts of Australia, who express the opinion that the Federal capital should be abolished without delay. Dr Maloney, M.P., declares that Canberra is doomed, and will drain the Commonwealth for another half century. At least 80 percent. of the Federal parliamentarians, if given the chance, would vote for its abolition.
