The following is the official weather report and forecast:— While an anti-cyclone is crossing the northern extremity of the Dominion a deep depression is moving from the Tasman Sea on to the southern ‘portion. Indications are for winds north-west to northerly, and freshening; gale -force probable in exposed positions .in and south of Cook Strait; seas rough south of Cape Egmont, and about Cook and Foveaux Straits; elsewhere moderate; freshening north-westerly wind in the eastern Tasman, but a change to west and south-west advancing later from the west; seas moderate in the northern portion, rough in the southern. SYDNEY, January 23.—Sailed: Marama (4 p.m.), for Auckland. TAMPICO, January 21.—Sailed: Port Pirle, for Auckland. LONDON, January 21.—Arrived; Mahia, from Auckland. The John, which arrived on Thursday night from Wellington, Is timed to sail to-day for Timaru, Lyttelton, and Wellington to complete loading for New Plymouth and Port Waikato. The Waipiata arrived yesterday afternoon from Auckland, via Lyttelton, and was berthed at the Birch street wharf to discharge Island fruit and general cargo. She will sail to-dav for Bluff, and will return to Dunedin next Wednesday to load general cargo for east Coast ports and Auckland. The Westport Coal Company's collier Canopus was floated out of the small dock at Port Chalmers yesterday afternoon, and had her compasses adjusted later. The vessel, which has completed an extensive overhaul, will sail today for Westport. The Totara Is due at Dunedin to-morrow from Wellington. She will load general cargo on Monday,-and sail the same day for Timaru. Lyttelton, and New . Plymouth. The Katoa has been fixed to load at Auckland on January 30 for Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Timaru. The Gale is due at Dunedin this morning from northern ports. She is timed to sail this evening for Timaru and Lyttelton to complete loading for Wellington and Wanganui. The Storm arrived yesterday afternoon from Port Craig with a cargo of timber. She will load general cargo on 1 Monday, and sail for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui. The Shaw, Sayill motor, ship Taranaki arrived at Wellington on Wednesday from Timaru for further loading. She will proceed to Gisborne, Napier. Opua, and Auckland, and is to sail finally from Auckland on February 5 for London, via Panama. The Federal steamer Northumberland arrived at Bluff on Thursday from New Plymouth to continue her Homeward loading. She will complete at Timaru, Lyttelton, Napier, Wanganui roadstead, and Wellington. The vessel is scheduled to clear Wellington finally on February 9 for London, Avonmouth, Liverpool, and Glasgow, via the Panama canal. The steamer Unden, en route from Los Angeles to New Zealand, has reported by wireless that she expects to arrive at Auckland to-day. She is due at Wellington on January MAHENO LEAVES MELBOURNE. Advice received by the Union Company states that the Maheno left Melbourne at 10 a.m. on Thursday for Bluff, Dunedin. Lyttelton, and Wellington. She is bringing 113 saloon and 98 steerage passengers, malls, and general cargo. Her freight for this port Includes transhipments ex the Romolo, Thermopylae, Tasman, Largs Bay, Ormond, and Merrlones. The Maheno is duo at Dunedin on Tuesday morning. SURREY'S ITINERARY. The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Federal Line steamer Surrey, which is now discharging Glasgow and Liverpool, cargo at the Victoria wharf, will sail on January 28 for New Plymouth to commence loading for London and west of England ports. She will complete loading at northern ports.

ZEALANDIC FROM LONDON. In ballast from London, via Panama, the Shaw, Savlll Company’s motor ship Zealandlc was expected to arrive off the Heads late last night. She will enter port this morning, and after undergoing medical and Customs Inspection will berth at Port Chalmers. The Zcalandlc will load frozen meat, dairy produce, and general cargo at this port for London. She will sail about Tuesday for Bluff to continue loading. i THE CITY OF GLASGOW. The A. and A. Line advises that the City of Glasgow was due at Wellington yesterday from Auckland to continue discharge of her New York cargo. She is to leave Wellington on Monday for Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Sydney, to complete discharge. INCOMING VANCOUVER MAIL. The motor liner Aorangi, en route from Vancouver, arrived at Suva at 2 a.m. yesterday. She Is due at Auckland 'to-morrow afternoon. The Aorangi is to leave Auckland again on Monday for Sydney. MOROR SHIP MAUI POMARE. Messrs H. L. Tapley and Co. advise that the Government motor ship Maui Poraare Is scheduled to leave Niue Island to-day direct for Dunedin. She will bring a cargo of bananas for discharge at Dunedin, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. The vessel is due at this port on February 2. 1 GOLDEN CLOUD FROM AMERICA. The 0. and 0. The Andrew Weir Line steamer Mlnerlc arrived yesterday afternoon from Makatea Island, via Lyttelton. She was berthed at the Bowen wharf, Port Chalmers, to discharge over 4000 tons of phosphates. - The Mineric completed her loading at Makatea Island on January 6, after she had been drifting off the Island for three weeks owing to adverse weather. She left Makatea on January 6, and arrived in the stream at Lyttelton late last Monday night. During the voyage she encountered two gales of short duration, and in crossing Cook Strait she experienced a strong north-west wind and heavy seas, which delayed her arrival at Lyttelton for several hours. The Mineric, which has been running in the phosphate trade for several months, was built 23 years ago. She twice visited Auckland within the last year. Captain E. H. Bulman is in command, and ho has associated with him the following officers First, Mr P. Beverly; second. Mr W. Graham; third, Mr F. Warrick; chief engineer, Mr W. Morris; second, Mr W.
