BURNS ANNIVERSARY.

Lovers of Burns’s works will have the opportunity tp-nlght at His Majesty’s Theatre of hearing the gems of his songs when the anniversary of the birth of Scotland’s bard will be celebrated. The Dunedin Burns Club, in ■ its endeavour to present the very best, has arranged an excellent programme which will no doubt meet with the full approval of the audience. Dunedin is fortunate in possessing such a Burns enthusiast as the Rev. W. Allen Stevely, of First Church, and his remarks on “ Some Aspects of the Poetry of Burns ” will be followed with a good deal of interest. The vocal part of the programme is particularly strong, comprising such artists as Mrs Wilfred Andrews (Wellington), Miss D. Sligo, Messrs S. Taylor, Arthur Macdonald, S. G. Angell, and Alfred Walmsley and the Idlers’ Quartet, while supporting artists are an instrumental trio, the Pipe Band, a reel party, and the Burns Choir. The box plan arrangements are advertised.
