WAIPIATA SPORTS.
SUCCESSFUL AMATEUR MEETING;
The Waipiata Amateur Athletic Club held its annual sports meeting on Boxiug Day in beautiful weather ..though’ a strong wind blew across the grounds. A large crowd from surrounding districts was present to watch the first amateur meeting held in Waipiata. The running and cycling were of first-class order, and some very good finishes were witnesssed. G. Smith was the outstanding cyclist, and J. Lovelock and W. Smith the most successful runners.
. The officials, under Mr R, Patterson (president) and Mv Mathias (secretary), earned out their duties in a very efficient manner, and their arrangements left nothing to be desired. Messrs Emmerson and Heaton were present at the meeting on behalf of the Otago Centre, N.Z.A.A.A. The following are the results:— / HALF-MILE CYCLE HANDICAP. First heat: C. Lucas 1, L. Ferguson 2, J.
