SPEEDWAY FATALITY. (Peb United Punas Association.* AUCKLAND, December 2. William Simmonda, aged 21, a motor mechanic, died at 10.30 to-day from injuries received when a racing car somersaulted and capsized while driven at 80 miles an hour last night at Henning’s Speedway, Mangere. ° KILLED QN LEVEL CROSSING. (Per United Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., December 2. Struck by the south-bound New Plyexpress when passing over the Victoria street level crossing in a cart, John Carian, aged 85, a fishmonger, was killed instantaneously. The force of the impact carried the deceased over 100 yards. The cart was smashed to atoms, and the pieces were strewn along the track. The horse escaped with a few cuts. The deceased, who was slightlv deaf, experienced trouble with the horse at the crossing. He leaves a widow and eight of a family. A LABOURER’S DEATH. (Per United Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, December 2. Alexander Williamson, a labourer, aged 63, who was seriously injured in the right arm and leg through slipping in front of a truck at the Hmeworks at Brown's yesterday, died in the Southland Hospital this evening. He was admitted to the hospital early yesterday afternoon, and a blood transfusion was made in an effort to save his life. TWO DEATHS IN FAMILY. ACCIDENT TO A THIRD MEMBER. Tragedy has dogged the footsteps of a Christchurch family since Friday last one son died after a sudden illness, another was drowned while coming from Lawrence to the funeral, and a sister is a t_ pi esent suffering from injuries received in a bicycle accident, the tragic sequence began (says the Christchurch Times) with the death of William Bradwell, aged 54 years, in the Christchurch Hospital on Friday last. His brother, Harry Bradwell, was drowned on Monday morning in a creek near Palmerston. Mr William Bradwell was apparently in the best of health last week, when he caught a chill. Pneumonia rapidly developed, and he was taken from his home, 12 Essex street, Linwood, to the Chi istclmi ch Hospital, He continued to sink, however, and died on Friday nmht last. Mr Bradwell, who was a signwriter, was well known in Christchurch. A second tragedy followed almost immediately, however. A brother, Harry Bradwell, a compositor, living in Lawrence, Otago, was drowned in a creek a mile north of Palmerston, whilst hmtying by car to Christchurch. From the details available, it appeals that a motor car, driven by Colin Goodlet, of Lawrence, with Harry Bradwell and a woman as passengers, ran into the creek and capsized. Goodlet was injured and he is in hospital in a semi-conscious condition. The woman was not injured. Still another accident was to follow. When a sister, living in Essex street, heard the news of her second brother’s’ death, she took her bicycle to ride to New Brighton to inform her sister. Opposite Wainoni her dress became entangled in a wheel, and she was thrown heavily, being severely cut about the face, as well as suffering severely from shock.
