INSURANCE FUND IN BRITAIN. GREATER BORROWING POWERS. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, December 2. (Received Dee. 2, at 10 p.m.) Miss Margaret Bondfield (Minister of Labour) moved an increase of the Unemployed Insurance Fund’s borrowing powers by £10,000,000 to £70,000,000. This fund’s debt now stands at £56,000,000, and is increasing at the rate of £40,000,000 a year. The total benefits, plus the cost of interest and administration, is £107,000,000 a year. The motion was carried by 274 to 214. UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE. INQUIRY INTO WORKING. LONDON, December 2. (Received Dec. 2, at 10 p.m.) In the House of Commons, Mr Philip Snowdon (Chancellor of the Exchequer) announced the appointment of a royal commission to inquire into the working of unemployment insurance, under the chairmanship of Mr Justice Holman Gregory.
