SPECIAL ADVERTISEMENTS. 600 YEARS - The discovery of the beneficial effects of effervescing mineral waters was made in the year 1326. In the year 1741, Dr Brownriggs’s paper was read on “How to super-carbonate unsweetened mineral waters.” In 1767. Dr Richard Bewley was the first to. conceive the idea of aerating a solution of soda with carbon dioxide —soda water. In 1772, Dr Joseph Priestly invented and exhibited to the College of Physicians his apparatus for making unsweetened carbonated waters, ou which the College reported favourably' In 1781, a Mr Henry was the first to manufacture unsweetened aerated waters as a commercial enterprise. In 1809, William Francis Hamilton was granted a patent for the manufacture of sweetened carbonated waters. In the year 1866 Thomsons commenced the scientific manufacture of pure carbonated waters.
