DUNEDIN ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY.

The fourth concert of the forty-third season will be given in His Majesty’s Theatre on Thursday, at 8 p.m The orchestral numbers include the overtures Le Domino Noir” (Auberl and -W-1 T TeH” (Rossini); Concerto (Mendelssohn), soloist, Mrs H. C. Campbell; selection, "Lohengrin” (Warner)* "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik ” (Mozart)| march, ‘ Maria di Grand” (Morelli), Miss Winnie Collier will sing " A Poet’s Ll1 (klgar). Messrs John T. Leech and Mortley Peake will contribute the beautiful duet “Still as the Night” (Bohin), and the Leech Lyric Choristers will give the following bracketed numbers; When Flow’ry Meadows” (a madrigal by Palestrina), “ Echoes ” (a part song by Sullivan), and “ Beguile, Beguile (a barcarole by Edward German), with Miss \ alda M'Curdy in the solo part. This concert will mark an epoch in the history of the Dunedin Orchestral Society, in that it will be the last occasion on which Mr Janies Coombs will wield the baton at the society s concert. Mr Coombs has conducted the orchestra for the past 42 years, and will leave kindly memories amongst old and young for his unswerving devotion to the cause of music. The box plan arrangements are advertised.

At the age of'7B, Mr W. L. Wyliop R.A., is finishing a great picture of the Battle of Trafalgar. He works in Portsmouth dockyard, where an annexe has been built for his special use.
