ROYAL DUNEDIN MALE CHOIR

Those who love good music should not miss the concert of the Royal Dunedin Male Choir, to be held in the Town Hall on Monday evening. The part songs to be sung are the stiring “Song of the Northmen," a Viking song by Maunder; “In Picardie” (Osgood), last sung here ten years ago; the dainty “When Evening’s Twilight,” by Hatton; a drinking song of the time of Queen Anne, “Down Among the Dead Men ” (Ivor R. Davies) ; the beautiful “Hymn to Music,” by Dudley Buck, and two of the best sea shanties, “ Roving ” and “ Clear the Track, let the Bullgine run,” the shantymen being Messrs Fleming and MAllum respectively. The contralto singer, Mrs Wilfred R. Andrews, who is always welcome to Dunedin audiences, will sing “The Lovely” (Liszt), and a solo from “La Favorita ” (Donizeth). Miss Eva Judd, violinist, will play two items. Mr E. W. Robbins (tenor) and Mr Cecil S. Hawes will be the choir soloists, and a new quartette will he heard to advantage. An extract froiii Tannhauser will be presented, Mr J. D. M'Keehnie, as Wolfram, singing “By Yonder Shrine” and “0 Star of Eve.” Miss Eva Scott (soprano) will sing the solo “Oh Blessed Virgin, Hear Mv Prayer,” the choir coming in with the •‘Pilgrim’s Chorus.” Mr J. Paterson will conduct a choir of 70 choristers, and Mr C. A, Martin will be the pianist.
