FREE KINDERGARTEN ASSOCIATION.
The monthly meeting of the Dunedin Free Kindergarten Association was held on -Thursday* afternoon in First Church class room. In the unavoidable absence of the ,president (Mrs Phillips), Mrs Ewing occupied the chair, and the following members weer also present. Lady Allen, Mesdamea Brewer, Bundle, Latham, Gallan, Sandford, Cox, Evans, Glendining, Hanan, Laing, Mac Lean, Shand, E; J. Smith and Wright. Mrs Ewing referred to the death of Mr T., R. Fleming and moved that the following resolution be passed: “The council of the Dunedin Free Kindergarten Association wish to extend their sympathy to Mrs T. R, Fleming and family _ and to place on record their appreciation of the services of the late Mr T. R. Fleming, who for many years acted on our Advisory Board.” * The resolution was carried, members standing in silence.
Reports from the various local committees and directors of kindergartens showed that the third term had commenced with increased attendances, and ■the health of the children had improved with the wanner weather. • An_ invitation was received from the principal and students to view the handwork display on Friday, October 10. Arrangements for the practical tests for students to be held this month were reported as complete. A report of the gift morning teas held in September showed that considerable interest had been aroused among the public in the work of the kindergarten and the funds had benefited to the extent of £2O 16s 6d.
Accounts amounting to £.172 2s were passed for payment. The subscriptions for the month amounted to £2O 3s.
