INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT. (United Press Association,) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) _ LONDON, October 1. ihe Duka of Gloucester visited Thurston s, and'was introduced to Lindrum and Newman. He saw the Australian dominating the play during three visits to the table. Lindrum scored 1018 against hia opponent’s 147, including brilliant sequences of 122 and 114 with close cannons. The Duke was keenly interested, and frequently led the applause. He shook hands with the players before his departure. Scores:—Newman, 10,093 (including 137) 5 Lindrum, 6722 (including 317, 608, 654, 418, 203). Snooker.—Newman 556, Lindrum 315. Davis, 10,161 (including 335, 291, 208); M'Conachy, 10,805 (including 374, 211). Snooker : M'Conachy 337, Davis 321, - Discussion is proceeding as to why Smith is not included in the tournament. Smith declares that he was not approached, and he does not know why. Mr Camkin, the organiser, declares that Smith declined, and he adds that ho is willing to release Lindrum or Davis to play Smith during the second half of the season, hut he must find a stake of £IOOO for both. Regarding the matches with Burroughs and Watts, under which Smith contracted, he made the statement that he would consider the releasing of • Smith temporarily from the contract if ho desires to play. Mr Camkin says: “ It is now up to Smith."
