Immediately prior to the strict enforcement, of the reaula* « i, t ] lo • avera 8® output of the men affected was over six tons per shift. It has since dropped to .less than three tons per shift. It isqnite futile to suggest that a drop of this magnitude is due to the enforcement of the regulation, - ; statement concludes that the Linten Company was not responsible for the Press Association message of September from Dunedin with reference to a supply of coal being obtained from Otago rmnes. It fa true that the company has made arrangements to obtain supplies xrom Otago, if required.
