GREEN ISLAND QUEEN CARNIVAL.
CORONATION CEREMONY. The grand finale to the queen carnival organised by the Green Island Brass Band was reached last evening in the Town Hall, Green Island, when the carnival queen, Miss Orange, was crowned by the Mayoress, Mrs W. T. Smellie, before a large audience. The Mayor, Mr W. T. Smellie, occupied the position of Lord Chancellor, and during the ceremony knighthoods were conferred on several local citizens by Mr E. lies. The maids of honour who were presented to the queen were Misses Mary Miller, Margaret Christie, and Leona Connor. A delightful programme of instrumental and vocal items was given during the evening the performers being Mr Clark, Miss Clark, Mrs Aitchison, Mr Ruffell, Mr Page Mr ■Kuucrs, and Burke’s orchestra.
