CITY POLICE COURT.
Wednesday, Octobee 1. (Before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M.) IDLE AND DISORDERLY. Robert Munro appeared on remand and pleaded guilty to being an idle and disorderly person in that he had no lawful visible means of support.—Chief Detective Cameron said that the accused had travelled from Christchurch to Oamaru, and had left the latter town without paying his board. He ' hod later come to Dunedin, where he had obtained goods on credit from various business people and had also victimised several boarding house keepers. He bad been convicted of obtaining goods by fraud on two previous occasions, and from his record and genera! behaviour it appeared that he was anything but genuine.—His Worship took into consideration the accused’s youth, and admitted him to probation for two years. INTOXICATED MOTORIST. Michael Kitchen pleaded guilty to being intoxicated whilst in charge of a motor lorry, and also to being an unlicensed driver.—Senior ScrgeanJ: Quartermain said that the defendant and another man had been cutting firewood at Waitati for a man named Waldren, who lent them a motor lorry to transport it. On Tuesday he came to town, and after visiting the Wharf Hotel, where, he admitted, he had 10 long beers, he drove along Cumberland street and up Stuart street in' ‘he Octagon, where he left the lorry and went away. On his -return he was arrested. He then intoxicated, and further investigation showed that he had no license. A fine of £lO in default one month’s imprisonment was imposed on the first charge and the accused was prohibited from driving for 12 months. For having no license he was fined £3, with an alternative of seven days’ imprisonment.
