PERSIAN TREASURES
EXHIBITION IN LONDON. CARRIED ON MYSTERY SHIP. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, September ■ 30. (Received Sept. 30, at 8 p.m.) Somewhere in the Red Sea is a mystery ship, hurrying to Britain. She is carrying Persian treasures valued at nearly £3,000,000 for exhibition at the Royal Academy at Now Year. She is indeed an argosy of art, her cargo including jewel-encrusted, swords, shields, and sceptres, some of the emeralds in the Shah’s Crown jewels being as large; aa a man’p hand. There are also ex(juisite carpets from famous mosques, woven in gold and silver silk, and priceless manuscripts, miniatures, and brocades which were transported from Teheran and the Persian Gulf by air to avoid the dangers of breakage hy camel transport over the mountain i passes. ' 1 Sir Denison Ross, one of the organisers, says that the vessel’s name has not been revealed owing to fears that pirates may ■waylay her.
