SEAMEN ON TRAWLERS.
THE QUESTION OF WAGES. DISPUTE BEFORE THE COURT. (Peb United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, August 11. The dispute between the ' Seamen's Union and New Zealand Fisheries, Ltd., was resumed in the Arbitration Court to-day. The case was partly heard at the last sittings, and was referred back to the parties to sec if an agreement could be peached. , For the Seamen’s Union, Mr Walsh said that all the clauses had been agreed to except wages and the discharge of ashes. For the company, Mr Bishop said the lowest paid men earned £283 a year, and the highest £317. He contended that this was adequate. The court reserved its decision.
