The monthly meeting of the Anderson’s Bay School Committee was held last Wednesday, Mr Maclean presiding over an attendance of the following members: — Messrs J. Kirkwood, J. Wheeler, G. Pearce, I. Higgins, P. Bell, J. Jeffrey, and R. M'Garngle. The chairman. Mr Somerville, was unavoidably absent. The headmaster (Mr Parr) was present, and submitted his report on the work of the school during the past month. This showed that everything was going very smoothly, and that the health of the children was remarkably good considering the prevailing weather. The departments inspectors had visited the school on July 18, but their report ,was not yet to hand. The concert given by the pupils of the school last month had been a great success, and although the weather was anything but favourable, the hall was filled to capacity. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the headmaster and staff for their efforts on behalf of the school. Messrs Wheeler and Higgins reported visiting the school and finding everything satisfactory. The screenings which were placed at the entrance and over the school grounds had been very beneficial during the wet weather. The work of concreting the school grounds would be started any day, the board waiting until its carpenters were available.
