TO THE EDITOR.
Sib,—l write in the hope that the lady who so generously donated (anonymously) large sums to various institutions, and doing proclaims' her interest in the welfare of the men. boys, and children of the Dominion, might spare a small donation to the Sea Cadet Corps inaugurated here by_ me. The aim of the movement, apart from preparing for a maritime career such boys as contemplate one. is to make boys into upright, honourable, and loyal citizens, physically fit, mentally alert, and morally strong, by providing useful and instructive training under healthful and enjoyable conditions in their spare time, and so combat the proverbial dancer +v?® hands. The boys have to pay { ,r ow ? ? ! * or uniforms, and some of the parents find it difficult, if'not impossible, to provide the money for such. Band instruments are also required, ■there are now <3 boys on the roll.—T am, etc.. Commanding Otago Military DitNew Brighton, July 10.
