MOTOR CYCLIST KILLED. COMPANION IN SERIOUS CONDITION. (Peb United Press Association.) . HAMILTON, June 14. One man was killed outright and another lies m a serious condition in the hospital as the result of a collision between a motor car and motor cycle at norotiu this afternoon, Xfae motor cyclo and side car was travelling towards Hamilton, when it collided with a car driven- by A. H. Baldwin, a miner, of bluntly. John Langford Gavey, 26 years °f age. a salesman, of Frankton, was killed outright and his companion on the cycle, George Kaeoof, 25 years of age, of Huntly. was admitted to the hospital with concussion. It is not known who was riding the cycle and who was in the side car. Mrs Ann Stewart, a passenger in the car, is _ suffering from ehoek and slight concussion. The inquest into the death of Norman Coburn, who died as the result of. a motor smash on the night of May 24, was concluded yesterday. Evidence was given that a garage had been overcrowded with cars, one of which was taken out and parked on the correct side of the street without lights but in a lighted area. BOY CRUSHED UNDER LORRY. On Friday night Gordon Arthur Craik, aged 12 years was accidentally killed at Mornmgton. He was on a lorry with his brother, who was delivering goods for his employer, Mr T. E. Steel, Bond street, and as the vehicle was proceeding down a steep road near the Industrial School it became unmanageable through the brakes failing to act. The driver put the lorry in low gear, but as it continued to gather speed he decided to run it into a bank. Unfortunately the vehicle capsized, and the boy fell out and was crushed under the side of it. The driver 'escaped unhurt. An inquest was opened on Saturday morning, before Mr R, Bartholomew, S.M. Evidence of identification Was given & W’s father, William Craik, of 25 Nicholson street. South Dunedin, and tho inquiry was adjourned to a date to be fixed later. i CAR RUNS OVER A BANK. . Harry Burns mg at Portobello, was driving a motor car along the road near Company’s Bay on Saturday afternoon, when a tyre burst, and the car, getting momentarily out of control, ran over the bank into the harand caught fire. A passenger, who was m the car, was thrown clear and escaped with slight bruises. Burns.'however, was. severely burned about the legs, in addition to suffering considerable bruises, STRUCK BY MOTOR *CAR. Annie Couston, a widow, aged 75 years, who resides at Montgomery avenue. North Dunedin was admitted to Hospital at 11 a.m. yesterday, suffering from injuries to the head, caused by being knocked down by a motor car on the Main North road.
