HIS FORTIETH WICKET

GRIMMETT’S FINE BOWLING. OXFORD UNIVERSITY MATCH. EASY WIN FOR AUSTRALIA. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.), LONDON, May 29. By dismissing Oxford University twice for the same score (124), the Australians scored an easy victory by an innings and 158 runs. This was the visitor’s fourth win of the nine matches played. University started badly, Walls with his first ball shattering- Kingsley’s wicket. Moore, who had a ' splendid school record, and the Indian (Pataudi) retrieved the position somewhat, 50 appearing after 50 minutes’ play. Grimmett secured his fortieth wicket of the tour when he got Moore with the score at 72. Five wicket? then fell for the addition of only 10 runs. Walker achieved two fine feats of stumping. Peebles alone of the others offered any resistance, and Grimmett ended the innings, which lasted 135 minutes. He bowled well throughout, and' finished with fine figures. Oxford followed on at 2.50, wanting 282 runs to avoidi an innings defeat. Three valuable , wickets, however, were lost within an hour for 25 runs. Ford then punished Hurwood and Grimmett, and with Melville brought the total to 73. The latter was dismissed by a brilliant catch in the slips. Wall had another, success next over; and the fifth wicket fell at 80. Bradman, displacing Grimmett,- tempted Garland-Wells to hit, and bowled him, and then Hill-Wood fell to the most brilliant catch of the tour, Richardson taking the ball almost on the ground with, one hand at deep mid-off. Peebles hit Bradman for six, and M‘Cabe ended the match by taking his first wicket of the tour, when he clean bowled Peebles, Following are the scores:— AUSTRALIA.
