BREAKING AND ENTERING.
TWO. YOUNG MEN CHARGED. GIRL ASSOCIATE ARRESTED, (Special 10 Daily Times.) AUCKLAND, May 30. Two young men and a girl were arrested by detectives in the city last evening. This morning William Porter, aged 22 and Leslie Charles Burke, aged 23, both labourers, were brought before Mr Leviena, S.M., at the Police Court on a charge of breaking and entering the shop of Victor Pulley at Rangiora and_ committing theft. In both cases Senior Detective Hammond obtained a remand until Monday. Mavis Withell, aged 19, described in the charge sheet as a music teacher, was charged with being an idle and disorderly person with insufficient means of support. Mr Hammond said the girl ran away from the South Island with the two young men and had been living in the same bouse with them in Auckland. “ She is under the influence of one of them,” added Mr Hammond. Major Gordon said the girl had an aunt in Auckland, and she would look after her until she returned to her parents.
The magistrate adjourned the case for one month on. the girl’s promise to remain with her aunt.
