_Mr G. M. Marshall, of Earnscleugh, is at present on a visit to Dunedin. Mr F. M. Tuohy, a well-known Dunedin_ vocalist, will leave shortly to take u^«/118^ resi^ence Ranfurly. Mr Stuart Wilson, of Wellington, is at present in Dunedin. a solicitor of the Supreme Court by Mr ennedy yesterday morning. At the annual meeting of the Taieri County Council yesterday Cr R. A. Kemp£liell was elected, chairman, Mr H. W. Kelly has been appointed manager-of the Auckland branch of the JSTew Zealand Insurance Company, in succession to Mr H. M. Didsbury. For several years prior to'loo3 Mr Kelly was captain of the Wellington Rugby representative team. . .

Cabot left Dunedin by the second express for the north yesterday, on his ,way to Columbia College, New York, where he will undertake special training in vocational guidance and research in education psychology. While there he will act as the representative of the New Zealand National Union of Students .m the United States and Canada, lie will be absent from New Zealand for at least a year. cZ ri ? r J° he F departure from the Albany Street Associated Normal School, Miss O. Wynne, who has been on the staff for tUe past five years, was met by her fellowteachere. The headmaster (Mr W. A. bproat) referred to Miss Wynne’s excellent work during, the time she had been associated with the school, and also to her efforts in coaching , the schoolbovs* hockey team. On behalf of the staff, be presented her with a dinner, set, and extended the wishes of all for her future happiness. Miss "Wynne also received a present from , her sewing "class. „A k a PP.y‘'gening was spent recently at Mansfield, the country home of Mr and Mrs J. R. Erentice, East Taieri, when the Mosgiel Presbyterian Church Choir and some ex-members paid a surprise visit. During a recent vacancy Mr Prentice had very obligingly filled the office of choirmaster, and the members of the choir showed their thanks and appreciation, in spending an. evening at hie borne and handing him a token" of their gratitude. A gift was also made to Mrs Prentice. The Rev, A. C. Kennedy made the presentations. and Mr and Mrs Prentice, in appropriate speeches, acknowledged them. Songs were given by Miss Jean M‘Gregor and Mr Dryden, and duets by Miss M'Leod and_ Mr Bain. Mr Skinner was accompanist, Portion of the evening was devoted to games. A bountiful supper was provided.
