GERMAN INFANTS
PROPHYLACTIC TREATMENT. PROHIBITED. BY AUTHORITIES. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) BERLIN, May 21. Nineteen infants have died and 37 are still suffering at Lubeck after treatment. The authorities have prohibited the Calmette treatment in Germany. The Public Prosecutor is examining the records with a-view to prosecutions. _ A previous message stated: Out of 24G infants at Lubcck who were given the Calmette prophylactic treatment against tuberculosis, eight have died and 24 are seriously suffering from tuberculosis symptoms. The authorities have ordered a cessation of the treatment and an investigation to discover whether or not tlm children were given an overdose, ■which the doctors declare was impossible, pointing out that 400,000 children were treated successfully in England, Austria, and Italy.
