The last New Zeialander wounded in the Boer War was Mqjor Harry Rayne, then a young subaltern in the 9th Contingent. He subsequently aaw service in Central Africa, an account, of which is contained in bis very valuajble books, "The Ivory Raiders" and “£3 un Sand.” After the annual meeting of the South African War Veterans’ Association to-night, Mr Ben Ellis (Ist Contingent) will give an interesting account of Rayne’s exploits. Padre Dutton will give Rayne’s own ver* sion of the thrilliriy episode at Verecniging, where the last shots in the Boer War were fired. Ex-volunteer officers have been invited to be present.
