REDUCED SALARIES
NEW SOUTH WALES BILL. SECOND READING CARRIED. (Unitod Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) SYDNEY, May 21. In a series of divisions, in which the Government was saved on two occasions by the casting vote of the Speaker, the second reading of the Civil Service Salanes Cut Bill, was eventually carried by 45 votes to 43. The Nationalists, Mr Sanders and Mr Tressider, voted with the Opposition. SAVING TO THE STATE. SYDNEY, May 21. In the Legislative Assembly, the Treasurer (Mr Stevens) said the diminution in the taxable income in this State for the coming year would amount to 22 per cent., while the savings, including the reduction in the public servants’ salaries, would aggregate £2,067,000.
