CHINESE SHOT AT CAIRNS. SOM OP MONEY MISSING. - (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) BRISBANE, May 9. A message from Cairns states that two Chinese were found shot in a market garden. A large sum of money is stated to be missing. Horse tracks have been found, and the police are scouring the country. MURDER BY ABORIGINAL^. DEATH SENTENCE PASSED. DARWIN, May 9. The jury found four aboriginals guilty of murder of another black, and the death sentence was passed. This is the first time for 12 years that a Darwin jury has returned a verdict of guilty of murder. ALLEGED CONSPIRACY. PROCEEDINGS WITHDRAWN. <■ SYDNEY, May 0. (Received May 9, at 11.30 p.m.) The Crown has decided not to proceed with the conspiracy charges, arising out of the affairs of, Gheapleys, Ltd., against Ellisdon, Roden, Kutner, and Levy. The remainder of the defendants were acquitted during Police Court proceedings. Nine men were originally charged with conspiracy to defraud a number of wholesale warehouser. The evidence disclosed that they carried on business under the name of Gheapleys, Ltd. It was alleged that Gheapleys established branch shops in the heart of Sydney and sold goods a’ ridiculously low . prices, often under cost; that their losses for five mouths were over £40,000; and that when the company went into liquidation the debts aggregated £57,000.
