GHOST IN A CASTLE.

WOMAN IN SILK DRESS. -A- woman in a silk dress is said to haunt the ancient castle of Hartshill, near Nuneaton, in Worcestershire, and many local people- are afraid to approach the place after dark. - ‘ The castle, built in 1135, is,owned by Mr ■ Moore, whose, family inherited it 200 years ago.- It is now disused, and the grounds are cultivated as a small holding. “I have. seen the lady with the silk dress hundreds of times,” Mr Moore said recently. “ She makes a sound like the rustling of leaves. - Several members of our family, and people in the village have also seen her. . When my brother was a lad of 18 he saw her in broad daylight. “My father went to the bishop, who told him to say, ‘ln the name of the Father, the Sou, and the Holy Ghost, what troublest thou? ’ But he never had a chance. You hear the rustle, she brushes.close by, and is gone.” A white thing without Tegs, about threefeet high, is also said to have been seen moving along the top of the garden wall. Mysterious noises have been heard of people walking up and down the stairs, and in and out of the rooms. • Mr A. Moore, a nephew of Mr J. Moore, stated that he iiad seen the big oaken doors of the castle fly open, and then shut again, although securely bolted Mrs Moore, his mother, states that she has heard the rustling of a silk dress on the stairs, but’has never seen anything.
