BON BON REVUE SEASON.

IN AID OF UNEMPLOYMENT RELIEF. The proceeds from the entertainment which is to be given next week at His Majesty’s Theatre will be in aid of « very deserving cause—that of helping the unemployed of the city to find of earning something to “ keep the pot boilipg" during ' the winter months. Apart altogether from the object of the entertainment, however, the revue, which is to be given hy Howard J, Thornton’s Bon Bon Revue Company, promises to be an outstanding attraction in itself, the entire programme, which is a. long and varied one, being in the hands of local amateurs, all of whom ore well and favourably known on ths Dunedin' stage. The revue, will commence on’ Monday evening, and will be presented on each successive evening until the following Saturday, and there Will be a matinee on Saturday afternoon. , Under the supervision of Mr Thornton, with Mr Avery H. Dale as stage manager, the production is now well under Way, and a colourful extravaganza of songs, dances, comedy, jazz, and sketches is promised for the opening night. The contributions which may prove the most popup- are:—Selected vocal gems by Miss Freda Elmes, a pleasing young soprano; a musical comedy scene and “ A Domestic Quarrel,” featuring Dale Austen (Dunedin’4 movie actress), in which she will be supported by Miss Patricia Lythgoe and Mr Angus Gorrie: Bert Dalton and his International Novelty Band of eight “jazz idols,” presenting the latest in dance music; the young baritone, Mr Fred. Kershaw, in selected solos, “ Big City' Blues” and “A Precious Little Thing Galled Love,” by the vivacious souhrette, Miss Florence kPLeod; a colourful.dancing ecena, “The Wedding of the Paint*! Doll ” (arranged by the courtesy «f Miss Constance Potts), in which'an extensive cast , has been selected to stage this well-known novelty from' ' the “ Broadway Melody”; a song scena, with the lead taken bj Mr Avery H, Dale (Mr Jack MfTigue presiding at the piano), and a ballet of six; and songs by both Miss Sybil §tavley and Mr Bert Dalton (the latter making his first appearance as a .singer and. dancer). - Local productions in the past have always been accorded, excellent support on the part of the Dunedin publicj and, especially in view of the laudable object in this case, it is to be hoped that “On With the Dance,” as the revue is styled, will receive even greater patronage than its predecessors.
