ON WIFE'S GRAVE.
POIGNANT SUICIDE. “I WILL GO AND BE WITH HER.” (From Due Own Correspondent.) SYDNEY, iMay 1« , Heartbroken since his wife’s death three months ago, a young man in Sydney, whose last wish was that bis' name should be kept out of. the papers, committed suicide across the grave of his wife in the Rooljwood Cemetery. Few suicides in recent years have been surrounded with such tragic circumstances. ' The suicide was deliberately planned and executed. The man’s last act before his fatal pilgrimage to his wife’s grave was to attend mass in the eln ■ . which he was married only a few years ago. Written in the front of the iSiblo that was found in his pocket were these few poignant sentences: “ I am in St. Patrick’s Church, only a few yards from the spot where darling Marie and 1 were joined together as man and wife in the sight of God and the church, I cannot stand being apart from her. I cannot stand being away from her, I will go and be with her to-day.” What happened between the time he wrote that and the time his body was found is not clear, but further writing, this time on the back' of a photograph of his wife, indicates that he took portion of the poison he had with him and then made the notation. On the photograph was written: " It is 1.30 p.m. now. I have taken some of it, and it is beginning to give me pains—but what exquisite pains. I will soon be with my darling Marie. Blessed Mary and Joseph forgive.” In a farewell letter which he addressed to the “Coroner and the Press,” he indicated that he desired his name to lie left out of the papers. “Don’t worry my family,” he wrote. “ They have worries enough now. Jesus and blessed Mary keep them. There is not need for a post-mortem. Poisoning, self-adminis-tered. Do-not talk about temporarily insane. I know what I am doing and I want to be with my darling wife. I have wanted to be near her since she was taken away from me. I will be with her soon. Blessed Mary and Jesus forgive.” » Tho man was only 33 years of age, and his wife died in February last.
