The railway police'station was reported to have been entered by 500 volunteers, ■■ • 'Telegrams from. Bengal, this ‘morning reported all quiet on the Hoogli and, at Howrah. At Chittagong four' raiders were stated to have been killed. Captain Benn said he ■ thought • that • that referred. to ; the raid a. few. days. ago. , Messages from the Chief Commissioner dealt with yesterday’s disorders at Delhi, in one of .-which the demonstrators wrecked a- cart-Jin'which 7 the Deputy Commissioner and the- senior superintendent of police w.er.e sitting.. The-casual- :: ties Were not yet known, although it was reported that /some '3O. or 40 injured persons reached the police station or the hospital. : The latest .report frqm ,Bombay, dated yesterday, stated', that, generally speaking the. situation was still quiet. Following the arrest of Mr Gandhi, a- large meeting was held In Bombay, but it was conducted peacefully. A hartal which was. started on Monday was continued on Tuesday. In the mill area: 44 mills, or more than 50. per-cent., of the whole, were working. Troops continued-to be held in readiness. In = Surat the situation was quiet, and some of the shops •were’ open. . A CLASH’ IN DELHI. SIX PEOPLE . KILLED. DELHI, May 7. . .-'/•Six people were .-killed,,in a. clash between rioters ■ and' the police in Delhi when, the latter opened fire following attacks on police lorries. '■ Four'members of the gang ,of. rebels which attacked Chittagong . recently were killed .and/ two captured: in an affray with a troop; of-armed police near Chittagong in the morning. One villager was also killed.
