AORANGI'S DEPARTURE.
A SLIGHT DELAY; RAILWAY MISHAP AT MERCER. : ..." (Special to Dailt Times,) r AUCKLAND, May 6, " Owing to the late arrival in Auckland of the southern mail from abroad, caused by a mishap to the Wellington, express at Mercer, the departure of the Aorangi for Vancouver was delayed. She was timed to sail at noon, but- the limited express, which had a quantity of mail for America and Europe, was delayed by a block on the line, and did’ not reach. Auckland until after Il : o’clock. A number of bags were also, placed on the goods . train involved in. the accident, and these did not arrive until 11.30 a.m. ■ ■ ■,h All haste was made to get the mail' to the steamer’s side, (jut as portion of it first requires sorting there was some delay. Both the limited and the ordinary express which was concerned in the mishap- brought passengers for the Aorangi. Several were obliged to leave their luggage at the scene of the accident until it could be transferred to the goods train, which arrived at 11.30 a.m. They then hastily collected' it, and conveyed it to the wharf by taxi, and the liner sailed at 1 p.m. '
