Tliis is one o£ the -city's firms in which the interests have been passed on from father to son; a fact which is evidence in itself of the soundness of that business.
The founder,' the late Mr Peter Dick, started in business for himself in' the' Octagon, removing to new premises in Moray place (opposite the City Hotel) in IS9O. His son, the lately .deceased Mr Peter G. Dick, who took, over the business in 1912, added to its stability'. He opened s an optical department, and invested the whole • establishment with modern ideas and attractions, such as the public look for in these days in our shops. The name “ Peter Dick ” is a household word for reliability and quality in watches, et?„ and a specialty is made of diamond rings. So sound a reputation ; has this firm established that it has on 1 its books names of families and their descendants ftr many decades. Mr Raymond A. Bridgman. D. 1.0.. N.Z.,was engaged by the late Mr Dirk during his illness to attend the optical department. and is in charge of this important branch.
