This company is now making a feature of steel furniture..for office and general use. Filing cabinets, desks, tables,* and many other articles which formerly were imported from abroad are now satisfactorily made locally, thus keeping New Zealanders in employment. The New Zealand Government ..has signified its approval of this new branch of industry by' giving. orders for installation in the Railways Departments, Public Trust Lands and Deeds,'and various other Government departments, : _ Antique, brass andcoppqr ■'work, domestic tinware, builders’ and plumbers’ goods nre a few only of the many branches of work done -by this firm. ■ ’i: ■ A large .plant, with’ a capacity,, of 40 tons of metal, has 'been installed, fop galvanising purposes. ■; In addition to ! the manufacture of baths,',tubs, and buckets, castings, bolts, nuts, and practically all iron work can be galvanised and made weather resisting. There is another branch that is of particular interest, and that is the installation of machinery for the collection of dust and refuse in timber mills, boot factories, and all places where dust is likely to be inconvenient and harmful to the workers.
